How Long Racing: 4th year skating marathons

Favorite Race: St. Paul (although Hayward is awesome too)

Racing Highlights: Slowly but surely I keep improving and I compete in more races each year.

How did you get into skating/racing? In 2005 I wanted do something in the summers to lose weight. I purchased a pair of rec skates and started training for my first marathon.

Who do you like to skate with during a race? Anybody and everybody. I love the thrill of pacelines. I skate alone all summer so I really look forward to the races.

What advice would you give for someone just getting into inline racing? Accept that falling is part of the process of learning how to skate. The joy of crossing the finish line is so much more powerful than the pain of falling a few times.

Anything else? I really admire veteran advanced and pro racers. I am inspired by them because they show what can be accomplished in inline racing. I dream of racing as a veteran pro someday (after I lose another 40 lbs or so and start training with others regularly.) Inline skating is a great sport and more people need to be doing it!
